i have to say….I DISAGREE!!!! much as i understand that sentiment, i was the kid in that picture at one point in time–and for an ADD-ridden kid, the best thing for me has always been multiple strains of creation, to keep me sane in at least one
I’d like to tie this theme with what you sent me earlier regarding “Love in the Time of Cholera”:
“With her Florentino Ariza learned what he had already experienced many times without realizing it: that one can be in love with several people at the same time, feel the same sorrow with each, and not betray any of them. Alone in the midst of the crowd on the pier, he said to himself in a flash of anger: ‘My heart has more rooms than a whorehouse.’”
I’d say:
My heART has more rooms than a whorehouse. And I betray not one of my outlets.
@Cathy – I love how you said “tie this theme.” Classic “forehead” statement.
Well, if I may continue weaving, I can add another knot given what you emailed me the other day (um, let’s keep the context out, shall we! lol):”[M]y madness never figured in any budget,” from Roberto Bolaño’s The Savage Detectives.
I looked into that book and read a bit about it and I would like to read it. Some review said how it may be based on Roberto Bolano’s “alter ego” and I thought to myself: Good God. I don’t think I have an alter ego. I can be all my characters–if I am not already. And then as you know…downwards spiral to the abysmal: “what am I writing, really?”
Said woman take it slow
It’ll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little patience
Said sugar make it slow
And we’ll come together fine
All we need is just a little patience
