How to take a nap in a park…

No – I did not take a nap –
The nap – took – me

~ from the poem “The Nap Taker” by Shel Silverstein

So all who know me know I believe in the power of naps. I believe in them so much I think they can fix most issues. Instead of Starbucks, what if we had spaces called Napbucks…when you want a nap, instead of going to get coffee, you actually just indulge in some shut eye… small spaces where we go check in for 15 minutes… Naps, Nutella, Yoga….and we can be happy…. Okay, so maybe I am a dreamer…

Anyway. I do believe I have water and ‘green’ radars. Regarding the green, while walking anywhere in the world, it isn’t long before my ‘green radar’ detects a location with a garden or park or some space where I can meet earth…

The other day while walking in Prague, before my reading, I found a park nearby. Not only did I find a park but Vodafone was doing a promotion for Ipads. And to promote them they had these hammocks lined up to lounge and browse the internet.  I stared at the woman and said, “Internet? Are you kidding me?! I could care less to tweet or be on fakebook, I am taking a nap for real.”

It was delicious. At first I was just playing around and then I fell asleep for an hour. The promotion continues for a week. I have made some strangerfriends there and yes, nap has been redefined, and I shall return.

Imagine if every park had spaces to nap….

This has to be the coolest Mr. Tree I have seen in Prague. It was majestic and even had a room inside it! It was also in the nap park.

What a tree! You won’t soon forget that one! (or ever)I finally put a wallpaper on my phone. I was sitting in my favorite spot and looking up at the sky through a leafy limb labyrinth, and with a few clicks…I also admire your portrait of a lamppost. The impulse is so often to put it to the side as a framing element. This one deserved center stage! :)~lucy

Hi Annie! Are you still in Prague? It sounds lovely and cool right now. Napbucks is a great idea. At Naropa I took a class with a teacher who believed in sacred naps. Contemplative dance and Sacred naps. Yes! Thanks for the like on my Posterous page this morning. Back at cha! Cheers, Renee
